Have you ever tried laser hair removal? This week I will be trying it for the first time. Spa810 is offering a free trial area to sample it out. Not many places would let you try out a laser hair removal for one part of your body for FREE. It’s a small patch but it’s a big enough space to think about moving forward. I am a little nervous, not sure if it hurts or if I am the right candidate and all that it entails. I will be sure to fill you in next week, so be sure you are following my fan page; Frisco Mom Blog.
Wax on Wax off, my “WHY” I will gladly raise my arms up for the laser.
Don’t get me wrong, I love waxing and I still do! I wax my eyebrows, chin and occasionally my mom mustache (seriously what the heck, hormones suck!).
Four years ago I got a wax, down under. I am not talking about Australia either. I am talking about the whole papaya – a Brazilian wax. It was my first time and I didn’t know what to expect. I made sure that I did trim the area to make it less painful. I remember feeling embarrassed and nervous. The woman couldn’t be nicer. Long story short it was totally awkward and those who say differently are flat out liars. I have had three kids and this is still not something I am comfortable with.
72 hours later after getting the waxI feel kind of sore down there. I figured that was because my lower half was in shock of what had just happened. Then I am unable to walk normal and this was all before happy hour too. It felt like I had a wedgie where the sun don’t shine, and not the moon. I later googled what to do as I felt a bump. I played doctor after looking online at WebMD on what to do for an ingrown hair. I never had one THERE or had a wax THERE either. Before you even start to speculate, as stated the above the garden was maintained and nothing was overgrowing. So we weren’t dealing with a full on forest. Anyway It got so painful I remember laying on the bed and asking my husband to take a look. He refused and suggested that I go to the doctor. After having kids and now he is the modest one? Or perhaps he didn’t want to be scared. God knows I was.
Reluctantly I made an appointment to the dermatologist and that was just so fun. I felt like an adult actress in the chair. Not that there wasn’t any modesty, it was more painful than anything and I knew she would help me. So I was going to strike any pose she asked me to do. Turns out It was an ingrown hair from waxing. Ingrown hair is very common all over your body. This was a first and most likely a last for me in this particular spot and situation.
The doctor had to inject me with some antibiotics and a saline solution to bring down the swelling down and to make sure there would be no infection. It was painful and yes the shot hurt, I wanted to die. Of both embarrassment and pain. This was the most expensive, embarrassing and eventful wax I have ever had in my life.
Needless to say when I told my husband I was getting laser hair removal he just asked that I try it out on a small area before I go down under. Not sure I would do the whole thing ever again, wax or laser. Perhaps make a bikini. Spa810 had
me at laser! No pulling, no tugging, no ingrown hair…. I can’t wait to try and tell ya’ll about it if they determine I am the right candidate for laser hair removal. Highly doubting that this laser hair removal will be as remotely painful as my waxing experience, both emotionally and physically.
