Our visit to the Arboretum

I went to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens  in August. The special they had was something so ridiculous or at least it seemed. The price was right for $1 or $2 dollars to enter the arboretum and they had $1 hotdogs, sodas and floats. Something like that but don’t quote me on the exact price. Being a little hesitant on going due the summer weather. I mean it was August and my first summer here in Texas. I thought I would melt with the ever rising degrees. To my delight it was very pleasant.

Plenty of things to see, places for the kids to enjoy and an interactive craft for the kids. We ate lunch at one of the restaurants, as I found the $1 deals were at the entrance of the arboretum and two ravenous kids later would not make the trek back, after we walked and wandered about. Our lunch was about $40 but it was worth it. Lots of mother natures eye candy to swoon over as we enjoyed the fresh outdoors by the waters edge.

My son and his friend did not say they were bored once while we were at the arboretum. There was much to do and explore. I was expecting to be done in two hours however it ended up being four and that felt rushed. My favorite was when we went on the golf cart and we received a guided tour around the arboretum. Another favorite was my Shakespeare in love….as I called it.

When planing a trip to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens I would highly suggest the following;

  1. Going to the website and checking out the rules for photography. For instance I love taking pictures it’s a hobby. However there are rules in place if its for commercial use.
  2. Make sure you dress accordingly and comfortably. During the warmer months I would suggest packing some sunscreen, water bottles and a hat.
  3. There is food available for purchase. However when I go back again I plan on brining a blanket and having a picnic on the lush green grounds, you are permitted to bring your own food. This is what picnic dreams are made of.
  4. Check the website out for monthly deals.
